Where do you put luggage on Eurostar? ›

You take your bags into the train with you and put them on the rack above your seat, or in the space between the seat backs, or on floor-standing racks at the car ends or in the seating area.

There's no need to check in for Eurostar, just scan your ticket at the ticket gate. With Eurostar, border and luggage checks take place before departure, so we ask our passengers to arrive at the station early enough to complete them.

On Eurostar there's no weight limit for your luggage, but you must be able to carry and lift your bags safely on your own, as there is no porter service at the station and our teams are unfortunately unable to help with luggage. Each bag can be up to 85cm long at its widest point and should be clearly labelled.

There are no strict luggage limits on trains in mainland Europe. Eurostar allows each adult two pieces of luggage each, each measuring up to 85cm, so large suitcases are no problem. You'll also be able to take a piece of hand luggage each, as well as pushchairs and prams at no additional charge.

You should be clear of customs from the Eurostar within minutes and it is probably 5 to 10 minutes on from there to the platform for the Folkestone train. Provided the Eurostar train is on time you should be in plenty of time.

There is no official size or weight restrictions, however luggage must not be so big or heavy that it cannot be handled by a single person. Luggage should be stored in overhead luggage racks, under the seats or in one of the luggage compartments located near the doors or in the middle of the carriage.

Can you take food on the Eurostar? You're welcome to bring your own food from home. Unlike airlines, there are no restrictions on liquids so you can even bring a bottle of bubbly.

Your passport will be checked by UKBA security staff before being checked by French passport control. This will only take a few minutes.

Can I take water through security at the Eurostar? ›

Unlike airlines, we don't limit the volume of liquids you can carry, so you can take all your toiletries with you, and even squeeze in a bottle of bubbly for the trip if you like. And if you've picked up a coffee at the station, just pop it in the special tray and we'll hand it back on the other side of security.

Check-in for Eurostar journeys opens an hour and 15 minutes before departure. We recommend that you arrive at least 90 minutes prior to your train leaving so you can have a stress-free check-in.

You're not required to take any COVID-19 tests, complete any forms or quarantine on arrival. This applies to ALL travellers, regardless of vaccination status.

Eurostar vs Flying: Journey Time

A Eurostar from London to Paris takes about 2h 30m, whereas a flight takes circa one hour. That's a pretty zoomed out view, and details matter here in terms of overall time and approach.

Since 1 October 2021, to travel on Eurostar each passenger needs a valid passports. Babies and children must have their own valid passport too. If the passport is in the passenger's maiden name, please advise them to take a copy of their marriage certificate when they travel.

Small cases and bags can be stored under your seat, medium sized bags can go in the overhead racks and large suitcases must be placed in the luggage racks at the end of each carriage.

Offensive articles, explosive, dangerous, inflammable articles and empty gas cylinders, dead poultry, and game, acids and other corrosive substance are not permitted to be booked as luggage. Trunks, suitcase and boxes having outside measurement of 100 cms.

Yes, you can bring up to 3 items of luggage on the train at no extra cost. If you bring more than 3 items, there may be an additional charge.

DO I NEED TO WEAR A MASK ON BOARD? For everyone's comfort, we recommend wearing a mask on board our trains. You're no longer required to present a vaccination certificate or an essential reason for travel.

Food is permitted on any Eurostar train. There are no restrictions about which sort of food you can bring on board, but please be considerate of other passengers and don't take strong-smelling food on board. On intercapital and daytime ski trains; each traveller can take 4 bottles or cans of beer, or 1 bottle of wine.

There's no need to let us know, just turn up and travel as normal. If your passport's in your maiden name but your ticket's in your married name, just bring a copy of your marriage certificate with you when you travel. There's no need to make any changes to your booking or let us know in advance.

35 minutes should work. The stations are next to each other. On what kind of ticket are you travelling? If you have a through ticket from Eurostar, or a ticket from "London International" you shouldn't be to worried about missing a connection if your Eurostar is late.

A maximum of two excess bags are permitted per passenger. Fees will be collected at the station or onboard the train if the station is unstaffed. If checked baggage is available, you can check two bags through to your final destination free of charge.

The Eurostar can take up to 2hrs 37mins from Paris to London, however, most of our trains will take you to London in only 2hrs 17 mins. If you take the first Eurostar at 5:40am, this direct train from city centre to city centre will give you plenty of time to make the most of a day trip to London!

Checked baggage service is available at a number of our stations and on many trains and Thruway Services. Not all trains or locations are equipped to handle checked baggage. Before you travel, make sure to check and see if your train and origin and destination stations accept checked baggage.

Is Eurostar Security same as airport? ›

Prohibited items are listed on the Eurostar website and don't include liquids in any quantity. The security check is similar to what happens at an airport with all luggage going through the x-ray machine (so you have to be able to lift it!), and passengers walking through a metal detector.

You will pass through UK, French, Dutch or Belgian customs depending on the journey you are undertaking. From 01 October 2021 onwards, EU, EEA and Swiss national identity cards will no longer be accepted as a travel document to enter the UK: a passport is now required.

You'll find a Left Luggage office at the north end of the station, next to Boots. It's open Monday to Saturday from 05:30 to 23:00 and Sunday from 07:00 to 22:00.

Handbags and small shopping bags are suitable to store under a seat. Rucksacks and hand luggage can find adequate space in the overhead racks. Larger suitcases and large rucksacks can be stored in the carriage luggage area.
